Resilient Civil Engineering, P.C. (ResilientCE) is proud to be part of the team to secure a Water Management Act (WMA) Program Grant for the Wareham Fire District in the development of a Drought Management Program. The goal of the District’s Drought Management Program is to reduce water usage within the District commensurate with environmental conditions to improve demand management, conserve water supply, and minimize the potential impact of groundwater withdrawals. This Program will directly benefit the District and serve as a template for other public water suppliers seeking to improve demand management in ways that more appropriately respond to changing environmental conditions. Its primary purpose is to mitigate the impacts of water withdrawals in advance of and as droughts occur by progressively reducing water demands through water conservation and public education measures. This project will also be useful to other groundwater water suppliers as it will provide a template in identifying the components involved with the development of a customized and effective drought management program that accounts for local environmental conditions. As part of this Program, ResilientCE will develop a Drought Management Plan for the District. Drought Management Plans can help to mitigate the impacts of moderate to severe droughts such as the drought that affected Massachusetts in 2016.
