Construction on a PFAS removal water treatment facility for the Town of Townsend, MA initiated in June 2023. The 2.45 million gallon per day (mgd) capacity facility will treat water from the Harbor Trace and Witch’s Brook Wells. The primary treatment process utilizes granular activated carbon (GAC) for removal of PFAS. The facility will also house the Townsend Water Department’s administration and operations staff with dedicated office and garage areas. The work includes installation of approximately 2.8 miles of raw and finished water transmission mains and distribution system mains. Construction is anticipated to be completed in October 2024.The $20 million project is funded in part through a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) program zero percent loan with a portion of principal forgiveness. ResilientCE is providing owner’s project manager (OPM) services during construction of the project.
