Articles and blogs discussing the importance of work that has purpose and meaning seem to be on the rise. It may be that I tune in to these types of discussions or it could be a larger trend. I believe that finding this purpose answers the questions that many of us ask throughout our lives. Ultimately, most of us need to do work that has meaning and improves the lives of others to feel fulfilled. A rewarding life is doing work that you are passionate about for people who appreciate that work. These are critical to personal success and happiness. Both are displayed in the work that you do. In the consulting field, clients want to work with consultants who love their work. Consultants want to work with clients that appreciate and value their work. Finding the right team helps to achieve goals and provides more positive experiences for all involved. I believe that having a genuine interest and taking the time to understand both the technical issues and individuals involved is necessary to achieve better project outcomes and to improve personal satisfaction in the work that we do. For me, this approach provides both meaning and fulfillment and hopefully results in a sustainable and positive impact on our community.
